Thanks for posting pictures. I now know where the particular spot in Masara is that has been hit by landslide. A lot of people are quick to condemn mining activities as the cause of this tragedy. Nobody seems to figure out that deforestation and kaingin, plus the fire that gutted the forest of Masara in the 80s, all contribute to the disaster. MGB has to inform the people that the type of soil, known locally as “apga” that is in Masara and the neighboring areas, is said to contain water during incessant rain and is prone to “buhawi” (erosion or landslide).
By the way, Masara is part of the Municipality of Maco, which is under the Province of Compostela Valley (and not of “Davao del Norte,” although it used to the part of the undivided “Davao Province”)
Thanks for the info about davao province. I am from davao province and currently residing here but I always forget about Maco. My brother tool the pictures since he is the assigned assistant parish priest of Maco Parish. Thanks so much for visiting and your comment ^_^ I will post more pictures of Masara landslide soon.
Thanks in advance for more pictures you will post soon. Is your brother newly-ordained? I believe he is in good hands. Fr Levi Mantica, his partner, is a good priest.
One of the landslide victims is a father of Emerson Sanchez, a seminarian. It must have been very devastating for him.
I wonder if you also have some pictures of Mainit Spring. Accordingly, it is subsiding — which causes fear among residents opining that it could possibly activate a dormant volcano.
yup, he’s ordained May this year. Im going to post more pics of Masara in the other blog: http://mukhangpinas.blogspot.com I’ve been to Mainit Spring before and hope I can post more pictures of the beautiful places in Davao province and Comval ^_^ I am still constructing my website but I lost my old posts which I am trying to restore: http://honeyreyes.com, please visit it too, thanks! Can I also visit your domain or blog?
Regards to Rev Fr Hernan Reyes. He is good-natured, intelligent and unassuming. He is an asset to the Diocese of Tagum. May his kind increase.
Let him not worry about his complexion though! LOL
I don’t have a blog yet. If I can have one I let you know.
dili na xa rev hehehe pari na jud aq manghud. may i know who this is? you seem to know the priests and seminarians so well and ill take your comments as a compliment for my brother
It must have been a very joyous moment and a tremendous blessing for you and your family to have one member become a priest, so are the families of Frs Alan Alindajao, Rosil Naparan, Shielo Cabias, Roel delos Reyes, Reynante Monares, Virgo Infiesto – new priests.
I hope you don’t stop praying for their perseverance just as what you have been doing when they were still in the seminary.
